A student of the human condition, wielding the written craft to captivate the mind much like an artist wields a brush. The pages are a blank canvas on which to draw from a talent heralded by many and matched only by an imagination that rises to the task. For Deondriea, writing started as a way to improve her penmanship. It promptly advanced into a passion and expression of her active imagination and inner thoughts.
Deondriea developed her writing skills in high school by competing in debate,
writing contests, and oratorical competitions for DECA, The Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, and the National Speakers Association. As an adult, Deondriea sharpened her literary skills by writing newsletters, penning poetry, short stories, developing program curriculum, and most notable Rhythm Can’t Keep Time, Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough her first fiction book, published in 2009. Rhythm Can’t Keep Time is the first in a series of recent pursuits for her, with work progressing quickly on the horizon. When Emotions Lie is Deondriea’s sophomore project and is scheduled for release May 20, 2010.
Deondriea earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communication; with an emphasis in Conflict Management and a minor in Psychology from Regis University in 2008. Deondriea uses education and her life experience to develop characters and storylines that engage both men and women.
